Supporting Medical Experts in Tanzania
Operation Child Life is an Irish based NGO that provides access to paediatric medical and sugical expertice to resource limited facilities across the globe. Their services are provided on a strictly volunteer basis. They never work alone but always team up with local experts to share knowledge and experiences.
They have sent visiting experts to Tanzania many times over the last 8 years.

Advanced paediatric life support trainers
These teams have been hosted by the local specialist counterparts working at Muhibili National Hospital (MNH).
The purpose of these visits is to perform collaborative clinical and surgical work and to run training and education seminars and workshops for junior staff. Everyone involves benefits from these visits.
Professor Martin Corbally director of OCL and Chief of Staff at the King Hamad University Hospital in Bahrain coordinates the efforts on the visitors side and Mr Larry Akoko, head of Surgery at the Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam is the coordinator of the programme in Tanzania.
Our expert teams perform extremely complicated and challenging surgical procedure. These include excision of enormous tumours, complex liver and lung surgery, and repairs of congenital malformations.
These are operations, which would not otherwise have been possible at MNH. However the Tanzanian team are extremely competent have adopted many of the skills and techniques learned from these trips and now provide more and more complex services on a daily basis for their paediatric patients
There are many children alive today thanks to the combined efforts of these wonderful local and international experts working under difficult conditions but to the very highest standards.
