Tanzanian Team

The Tumaini La Maisha Board of Directors manages all the Operations and Programmes related to Children’s Cancer funded by the initiatives of the group ‘We Are TLM’.

  • Gerald Mongella

    Chairman Board of Directors. Mr Gerald Mongella is also a founding board member of TLM Tanzania. Gerald is a respected member of the business community in Tanzania. He has expertly steered the board and TLM in general through the many complex management and operational challenges that face any start up organization.

  • Dr. Blandina Lugendo

    Treasurer Board of Directors. Mrs Blandina Lugendo is the founding member of the board of TLM Tanzania. She is a marine ecologist by profession, working as a Lecturer at the Department of Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries – University of Dar es Salaam.

  • Dr. Julius Mwaiselage

    Dr. Julius Mwaisalage is a member of the Board of Directors; He is the Executive Director of the Ocean Road Cancer Institute (ORCI).

  • Philip Saliboko

    Philip Saliboko is the Managing Director at ELYON Trading & Investments Company Ltd. He joined the Tanzanian board in 2021 and has been a wonderful addition. We look forward to continued success!

  • Nisha Shah-Sanghvi

    Nisha Shah-Sanghvi is the Director and Creative Director of Khanga Rue Media, a full service communication agency. Nisha is also one of the organisers of the bi-annual Artisan Market in Dar es Salaam.

  • Mattew Banks

    Mr Matthew Banks, of Children in Crossfire, was a founding board member until he left Tanzania. He was key to founding and registering Tumaini La Maisha as an NGO in Tanzania and we remain grateful to him for all his efforts.

  • Dr Trish Scanlan

    Secretary Board of Directors & C.E.O. of TLM Tanzania. Dr Trish Scanlan is a founding board member as well as an Irish Paediatric oncologist who lived and worked in Tanzania since 2007.

  • Saira Dewji

    Mrs Saira Dewji is a former member of our board. She was born and raised in Dar es Salaam although she has been educated in both India (high school) and the USA (BA in marketing). She is a mother of three beautiful children and feels blessed and compelled to reach out to children who are less fortunate. She was a dynamic addition to the team and took the lead in the field of fundraising and donations in kind for the children.

  • Dr Mwele Malecela

    We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Dr Mwele Malecela, our former board member. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to her entire family.

This dedicated team is made up of people from various professions from doctors to nutrition experts and play therapists to programme management.This team works tirelessly to make the sure TLM’s goals are reached and achieved.
