Kheri Tungaraza is an oncologist who has served in health care in Tanzania and
beyond for the last 12 years. A medical practitioner, Kheri is a Tanzanian national who has passionately been working with low-income earners who are
the major beneficiaries of subsidized services offered by public hospitals.
As a result, his multi-country engagements illustrate Kheri as having a deep
appreciation of the increasing burden of Non-Communicable Diseases and their
overwhelming effects on health care systems across the world.

He has a special interest in cancer prevention and wellness in general and his
work, he says, is currently driven by the belief that there should be deliberate
efforts to make health care affordable and accessible to every citizen. This, he
says, should be in tandem with empowering citizens whatever is possible for
them to remain healthy through eating well and being physically active.
Kheri currently works at Muhimbili National Hospital, where he is engaged in
cancer diagnosis, treatment, prevention, research and oncology consultations.
He has been an active Rotarian for the last decade, and due to his hands-on
dedication to his community, he was in 2017, awarded the prestigious Mandela
Washington fellowship which offered the opportunity to be trained in Atlanta,
Georgia (USA).

Beyond these responsibilities, driven by his appreciation of how knowledge is
important in health life style living, he founded AFYAPAL, a company that
specializes in helping people gain the right knowledge needed to live a healthy
life style and stay disease free. The founding of the company was an inspiration
from his late mother coupled by his love for wellness and sports. On this note, he is a 7 time full marathoner (42.2km), a keen lawn tennis player, a cyclist and religious gym enthusiast. He has been running the Kili marathon since 2017 and in 2022 and 2023, he ran 42.2km and raised money for kids cancer under the TLM umbrella. He is excited to do the same in 2024 to bring the smiles of beautiful kids battling cancer so fiercely .
