Board Members of Their Lives Matter UK.

Their Lives Matter UK is dedicated to improving the lives of children with cancer in Tanzania. Fundraising, managing inter-institutional partnerships and relationships are key roles of this organisation. They also manage all UK volunteers interested in getting involved.

Richard Bowman

Richard Bowman

Richard is a Paediatric Ophthalmologist who worked in Tanzania between 2002 and 2010, collaborating closely with Trish for cases of eye cancer (retinoblastoma). He works at Great Ormond Street Hospital and at the International Centre for Eye Health where he helps co-ordinate a global retinoblastoma network aimed specifically at closing survival gaps between different regions in the world.

Francesca Snelling

Francesca Snelling

Francesca is a British Kenyan-born visual arts professional with over twenty years experience in a range of industries from journalism and academic publishing, to marketing, advertising and curating. After ten years working for the news agency Reuters in London she set up www.akilipix.com whilst living in Tanzania between 2002-2012 as an umbrella organisation in which to form effective collaborations for delivering visually powerful media, public engagement and fundraising strategies.

Charles Groom

Charles Groom

Charles Groom is currently a Portfolio Director, Africa Funds for CDC, the UK’s Development Finance Institution, based in the London office. In a previous role with CDC, Charles spent six years in Tanzania as Country Director, covering a range of investments and CDC’s relationship with the Government of Tanzania. He is a Chartered Management Accountant, having trained with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), London.

Dr Trish Scanlan

Dr Trish Scanlan

Dr Trish Scanlan is a founding board trustee as well as an Irish Paediatric oncologist who has lived and worked in Tanzania since 2007.

James Noonan

James Noonan

James Nunan is a Barrister-at-Law, has many years professional experience working on governance, state-building and crisis management in a variety of contexts including Kosovo, Afghanistan, South Sudan, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Syria and Kenya. He has worked with UNDP, the EU, and the UK Government as well as NGOs and the private sector. He worked as a volunteer with the UK Government on the Ebola response in Sierra Leone and currently supports a company trial

Mark Ashford

Mark Ashford

Mr Mark Ashford it a Founding Trustee of the UK Board. He is an Information Technology expert and has hugely assisted with the set up of the organisation and this website by providing his technical team.
