Plant For Life

The Story Behind Plant for Life

Although there have been many improvements in cancer treatment and survival, a diagnosis can still bring fear, pain, and uncertainty for patients and their families. For children and their loved ones, it can be a life-changing experience.

Plant for Life aims to bring hope and support to young cancer patients and their families in Tanzania by raising funds for treatment and care through Tumaini la Maisha.

Plant for Life began in 2021 and was founded by cancer survivor Chandra Manek. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, she turned to gardening during her recovery. What started as a personal source of comfort soon became a mission to help others facing similar challenges.

Today, Chandra grows a variety of plants on her terrace garden, entirely at her own expense, and sells them to raise funds for cancer treatment for patients supported by Tumaini la Maisha.

A bouquet of flowers may last only a few days, but a plant can grow and thrive for years with care.

Plants also make our homes and surroundings more beautiful- imagine enjoying your morning tea on the balcony surrounded by greenery and fresh air.

Most importantly, every plant purchased helps support children receiving cancer treatment and brings hope to families facing difficult times.

Give a gift that lasts. Gift a plant and help save a child’s life.
